WHY GENERATION

Three actresses from Spain, the United Kingdom and Italy face a simple but controversial question on stage: What do you want for your future? The game of imagining possible - or impossible - futures becomes an invocation or an exorcism, a kind of contemporary ritual in which the hopes, ambitions and fears of a generation, overwhelmed by the height of their dreams and expectations, are exposed.
After “Interrupted”, in its second show, Teatro EnVilo returns to gestural comedy, body poetics, absurd humor and self-reference to delve into the mystery of the times we have yet to live.
First Prize and Audience Award at the Presente-Futuro Festival in Palermo.

About 'Teatro en Vilo'

Teatro en Vilo The directors and playwrights Noemi Rodríguez and Andrea Jiménez are Teatro En Vilo, in 2012 they founded the company in London that currently functions as a platform for international and interdisciplinary collaborations between scene creators, artists and researchers from countries around the world. The company pursues a constant dialogue with its social, political and personal environment, which forces it to constantly renew its stage language. Through its shows and formations, the company seeks to position itself on the fine line that separates theater from life and fiction from reality. Combining the improvised and the choreographic, the grotesque and the autobiographical, absurd humor and gestural comedy, tenderness and irreverence, Teatro En Vilo has embarked on the exciting adventure of trying to unravel the time in which we live.
Since its creation Teatro En Vilo has visited numerous European cities and toured a large part of Spanish territory with its shows. During its travels, the company has had the opportunity to step on the stages of prestigious theaters and festivals such as the National Dramatic Center, the Canal Theatres, the Conde Duque Cultural Center, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the BE Festival, the Buffer Fringe or the Mimetic Festival London. The company has also received numerous national and international awards, including the 2019 Ojo Crítico de Teatro Award, "Jury Award" and the "Public Award" at the Presente - Futuro Festival in Palermo, “Best Emerging Company” at the Mimetic Festival or the candidacy for Best New Author at the XIX and XXII Max Awards for Interrupted and Generación Why, respectively. And the nominations for the Max XVIII Awards for Best Show and Best Author for Man Up.
It is also worth noting the collaboration of important cultural institutions in the production of their shows such as the Lavoir Moderne Parisien, the Arts Council, the National Dramatic Center, La Caixa Foundation or the Teatro Circo Price, as well as the educational work carried out through their courses at cultural centers and universities such as the University of Oxford, the University of Bologna, the Universities of Puna and Calcutta, the National Dramatic Center or the School of Performing Arts at Girne American University (GAU).
